Fly-tipping is a small amount of waste overall in the City, however it takes up a significant portion of the Waste-handling budget. There aren’t enough prosecutions happening, partly due to the inability to record the fly-tipping activities and find the perpetrators. A Liberal Democrats-led council would:
- Tackle fly-tipping via local budgets which would invest in high-quality surveillance cameras
- Ensure that all fly-tippers found are prosecuted, including on open land that isn’t owned by the Council
- Introduce targets for prosecution (above the average of 4-8 a month as it is at the moment) – we will keep these targets to make fly-tipping a rare event
