Waste

We would help develop a CLEANER LADYWOOD through real investment in our failing waste collection and street cleaning services. We also need to be proud of our City for the Commonwealth Games in 2022 – we can’t leave this vital duty to a failing Labour-led council.

We would spend an extra £9million in the City to deliver real improvements such as:

  • Bringing back FREE bulky waste collections (x2 a year)
  • Work to boost recycling – with a dreadful recycling rate of only 21% against a 31% target – we would push the target even higher
  • Restore street cleaning – Labour want to slash this by £1.5million, Liberal Democrats would stop this drastic cut
  • Prosecute landlords who allow waste to be dumped on roadsides and frontages
  • All bins collected – even if the lid is open
  • Weekly bin collections will be retained
